Grafitti Walk

On Tuesday evening, just as the day's heat was breaking, we loaded J in the stroller and set off for a ramble along the DonauKanal, a tributary of the Danube which runs right through the city. There's a lovely pedestrian/bike path.

An electrical storm was starting, and we were treated to some fantastic lightning displays. Try as we did, we couldn't catch any bolts by photo.

At the Standbar Hermann along the way, we found an artificial lido. This is a hotspot for locals of all ages (even on a Tuesday evening). You can't see them here -- they're all clustered under the cabana in the background. But the atmosphere was festive and summery.

Complementing the lightning, the grafitti got better and better as walked. This art-form doesn't seem to be demonized here -- even the sanctioned decor in the U-Bahn stations embraces the grafitti theme. And this stretch of the DonauKanal is clearly where the best spray-can artists come to show their chops.
