Right off the bat, our 10-hour layover in Amsterdam was a hit, thanks to the airport's Kids Forest, ideal for burning off energy after the trans-Atlantic sit-down marathon aboard the airplane. We managed to coax J away, however, and soon he was afoot with his parents in the city center.
His debut on European soil.Crooked houses are the norm.
We broke up our extensive rambles along the canals and bridges with a 2.5-hour spell at an Amsterdam coffee shop (not that kind of Amsterdam coffee shop). Jonah was thrilled to learn that, just like him in Portland, Euro-pipsqueaks like to play with shared cafe toys while their parents sip cappuccinos
Quite the peripatetic 4-year-old, he made us proud.
